Meet the Physicians
Sylvia Flores, M.D.,MSW, MPH (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Dr Sylvia Flores is an OB/GYN physician currently practicing in Greenbrae and Novato. She was a psychotherapist in the Bay Area for almost 5 years before pursuing her interest in medicine. Dr. Flores graduated from Stanford Medical School in 1985. She was awarded an Orinoco Foundation Scholarship while she was there and traveled extensively in Venezuela and the Amazon territory studying women's health care as well as tropical medicine. She then did her residency in New Mexico at the University of Albuquerque Medical Center where she cared for many high risk OB patients.
Dr. Flores completed her National Health Service Corps commitment after 3 years at an inner city Milwaukee Clinic and delivered 350 babies per year while there. Her publications in the past have included studies on wound healing in addition to studies on psychiatric services to the medically underserved.
She is fluent in Spanish, oral and written, and is learning French. She enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, playing tennis, bridge and dance of all kinds (especially ballet and tango).
