Meet the Physicians

David B. Galland, M.D.

Brian DeMuth, M.D. David Galland is a board certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist practicing in Larkspur for the past 29 years. He is a member of the American Association for Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the North American Menopause Society, the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, attended the L'Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, and received his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. After enduring several winters in Rochester, NY, he did his internship and residency at UCLA.

Dr. Galland grew up in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Marin in 1982 to join his lifelong family friend, Gerald Wilner, in private practice. In January 2011, after delivering nearly 6000 babies, he decided to concentrate his practice on gynecology and his passion for minimally invasive surgery. He no longer does obstetrics.

An innovative physician, Dr. Galland was the first Ob-Gyn in Marin County to do in office ultrasound, pioneered operative hysteroscopy in Marin and was the first Marin gynecologist to be certified to use the DaVinci surgical robot for minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries.

He is a former Chairperson of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Marin General Hospital (MGH), a former member of the Board of Directors of MGH, currently the Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and a member of the Performance Improvement Committee of MGH. He is a founder and current Governing Board Member of the Marin Specialty Surgery Center in Greenbrae. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF Medical School and enjoys teaching medical students. Dr. Galland has been selected three times, by his peers, as one of the Best Doctors in the Bay Area and this year was selected by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top doctors in America. Dr. Galland is fluent is Spanish and French. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, yoga, gardening, cultivating orchids and spending time with his family.
